The History of Navigator & Californian Yachts

The first Californian Yachts models started in 1972 by the Marshall Boat Company and Jule Marshall. One of the company’s first successes was the Californian 42 LRC (Long-Range Cruiser), which was built over nine years. Unlike other companies that built their boats in the Far East, Californian Yachts were built in Orange County, California and used mahogany for the interior instead of teak. Over the years, the Californian models earned an outstanding reputation in the industry for their above average construction standards.

Navigator Yachts Inc. was founded by Jule Marshall in 1988 in Perris, California to build a line of raised pilothouse yachts under the brand name Navigator Yachts. Navigator Yachts Inc. started with a single 33-foot express model, and the company rapidly evolved into one of the largest builders of production pilothouse motorboats in the industry. A new generation of Californian Yachts was later introduced and both yacht brands were built by Navigator Yachts Inc..

A network of dealers in the major boating markets of the United States was established, along with the ability to semi-customize features at the individual customer’s request. The key to Navigator’s success became the ability to deliver a well-built product at a very competitive price, as well as its dedication and commitment to being recognized as a leader  in the industry.

Navigator Yachts Inc. remains, to this day, a leading manufacturer of luxury yachts.  The Navigator and Californian boat lines are classically designed with value in mind. In 2012, Navigator Yachts Inc. was sold and became Navigator Yachts and Products Inc.. The new owner will continue to carry-on the Navigator Yachts and Californian Yachts brands to a world-wide audience and the outstanding reputation that the market has come to expect.
